Our toasted white oak cup is crafted by professional Coopers to ensure optimal conditions for your spirits, allowing for the perfect balance of wood influence and spirit character. With the toasted inside, your spirits will pick up the oak flavoring and add the unique flavoring of the oak. With the 1/4" thick sides, the cup could be re-toasted at a later date if you wish.
Toasting and charring the interior of a barrel cause complex chemical reactions in the wood. These processes break down cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin in the wood, creating compounds that impart desirable flavors to the wine or whiskey. For example, toasting can produce vanillin, which adds vanilla notes, while charring can contribute caramel and smoky flavors.
The Barrels Farm process is distinct from standard toasting or roasting methods. It involves a more intense and shorter toasting at the wood's surface, creating a steep temperature gradient between the outer and inner layers of the wood. This method of cooling the outside of the cup during toasting, allows the wood to develop a rich array of aromatic compounds, which in turn can be transferred to the beverage during drinking. This allows us to achieve a perfect harmony between oak, seasoning, and toasting. The broader opening allows a fuller bouquet to reach your nose, giving you a more balanced and comprehensive experience. This can be particularly enjoyable when you want to appreciate the complexity of the whiskey's scent as a whole.
